Sustainable Gardening at PARJAP 2016

Within the framework of the AEPJP Congress that was held this week in Huesca, the proposal Cities of Colors. Floral Solutions was presented.

This innovative proposal, inspired by French savoir faire, has different alternatives for dressing the green spaces of cities with flowers and plants of high ornamental value. Among them are the Ornamental Bed, the Flowery Carpet, the Sustainable Garden and the Flowery Sowing, which allow proposing exclusive solutions adapted to each particular situation.

The Congress also featured a presentation in which Linda Guidi presented how these aspects are worked on in the neighboring country and then Ignasi Calvo explained the proposals that Cities of Colors presents adapted to our latitude, which was received with great acceptance and interest from attendees.

On this occasion we will highlight the Sustainable Gardening proposal. This option is designed to be located at city entrances, urban communication axes, roundabouts and median strips, in residential areas, public facilities and parks and gardens.

It is characterized by being formed by herbaceous plants with minimal irrigation, fertilizer and maintenance requirements; which offer the possibility of having profuse and varied chromatisms and flowering from spring to early autumn, but without losing interest throughout the year through other resources, such as plant habit, colored foliage, the occasional use of late or early flowering species and the seasonal variability offered by some perennial and evergreen species.

The Sustainable Gardening proposal made for the Congress is located in the Miguel Servet park in Huesca, within the flowerbed where the commemorative tree of the Congress was planted.

The composition is formed by a wide variety of species among which we highlight: Verbena bonariensis, Gaura, Phormium, *Salvia*** ‘Royal Bumble’**, Stipa tenuissima, Thymus serpyllum, Matricaria tchihatchewii and Festuca glauca, among others.

We already made reference and a brief explanation to some of these species in a previous post. In upcoming posts we will detail the characteristics of the other species that form this composition, as well as the different solutions offered by Cities of Colors.
