Last week the association that brings together professionals from green spaces in Catalonia (APEVC) organized a technical day at our nursery directed to professionals in the sector that was a complete success.
During the event, the basic concepts of sustainable gardening were discussed in depth. What it is and how it can be carried out.
Advice was also given on the irrigation of these spaces. The importance of implementation irrigation for this type of plants. Irrigation that must be very deep, and with periods spaced over time. As the weeks go by, watering must be spaced out more and more. But the day we water, we must ensure that the water has descended to a depth of approximately 50 centimeters.
During the tour of our demonstration garden, some pruning tips were given for some shrubby and perennial species. We saw what was the best pruning time for some species such as Salvias and Gaura, and how these prunings had to be developed, to favor rapid sprouting of the plant and subsequent flowering.
Some recommendations were also mentioned to reduce the use of phytosanitary products; How to introduce biodiversity into our gardens and how biodiversity and plants interact. We also saw the 3 insect hotels that we developed 2 years ago, and observed how some insects already live inside them.
At the same time we presented some of the most representative allelopathic species in our catalog.
Next we made a technical visit to our nursery facilities. We started by seeing the three reproductive systems that we carry out. Cuttings, division of clumps and seeds. We saw the greenhouses where reproduction and subsequent acclimatization are carried out.
Finally we went to see the shrub plant fattening area, also in the greenhouse, where we saw the planting process with a machine.
It was a very interesting day. From Sala Graupera we want to thank all the attendees for their time and interest in sustainable gardening. And especially to APEVC for organizing this event.
